| This is one of the most important of all thief skills. Lightening |
| a passing mark's purse is perhaps the most pure form of thievery |
| that exists. A thief's guild level, theft skill, and dexterity |
| are vital to a successful pilfering, and the level, charisma, and |
| luck of the potential victim can make the act more difficult. Of |
| course, attempting this while hidden in the shadows makes the task |
| much easier and make discovery a great deal less probable. |

| High level thieves have a network of spies around certain banks in |
| Astaria, informing them of who does business at the bank, to help |
| identify good pilfering targets. You may toggle these notices using |
| the "bank" command. |
