| Using an astute awareness of his or her surroundings and a keen |
| sense of the ebb and flow of combat, a thief may sometimes be able |
| to exploit weaknesses in an opponent's guard to make way for vicious |
| and potentially lethal attacks. Impale allows a thief to perform a |
| powerful lunge at a single victim in an attempt to drive a weapon |
| completely through the target. If successful, the target will |
| sustain considerable damage to both muscle tissue and internal |
| organs while often being stunned by the attack. If properly executed |
| the technique can be used as a coup-de-gras against an already |
| wounded foe; delivering a deathstroke that finishes the victim off |
| in a single merciful blow. For each additional ailment the victim |
| suffers from, the chance of successfuly dispatching the opponent |
| increases. It is certainly worth noting that such an attack, should |
| it be clumsily executed, will almost certainly leave the person |
| attempting to use it wide open to counterattack. It is not a tool |
| for the flat-footed, amateur thief. |
