| This is the premier offensive attack of the thief. The thief |
| uses his powers of stealth, surprise, and treachery to strike a |
| horrible blow to an unprotected portion of the victim's body. |
| The chance of success and the damage done is a result of many |
| skills and attributes, reduced by the abilities of your victim, |
| and enhanced greatly if you are hidden in shadows. You must be |
| wielding a bladed weapon in order to perform a backstab. |

| With every backstab, there is a chance that the thief can target a |
| vital organ, and instantly kill the victim. It is very important to |
| note that in the cold dark months of Snowmarch and Argentwood, |
| thieves have been known to experience greater success with their |
| backstab abilities, especially in their chance for an instant kill. |
